Popular WhatsApp feature is coming to Android!

Ana sayfa / News

WhatsApp has brought the document scanning feature to the Android platform. Previously only accessible to iPhone users, this feature is now available on Android phones. Users can scan physical documents directly from the app using the phone’s camera and share these documents with people in PDF format.

The document scanning feature makes document sharing via WhatsApp faster and more practical. Users can scan paper documents or forms from the app and automatically convert them into digital files.

The feature offers two different scanning methods, both manual and automatic. Manual mode gives the user more intervention. In this mode, the position and light of the document can be adjusted; direct control is provided over the scanning quality. Automatic mode, on the other hand, detects the edges of the document and quickly takes the image without the need for user intervention. This method is preferred by those who want a more practical use.

Document scanning on WhatsApp is carried out in a few steps from within the app. First, the person to be shared is selected on the chat screen, then the “+” icon and the Document option are tapped.

The camera is activated with the “Scan document” option from the menu that opens. After the document is viewed, the user can manually adjust the corners if desired. After saving the scan, the document can be shared in PDF format.

The feature saves time for students, office workers and general users who want to quickly transfer documents to digital media. This new function is currently offered in beta for Android users. On the iOS side, the document scanning feature has been actively used for a long time. With this update, WhatsApp has achieved equality between Android and iOS platforms in terms of document transactions.
